Located on the 10 acre site of the historic Blackhorse Farms in the exquisite seaside town of La Jolla, adjacent to the University of California at San Diego – Lowe Enterprises envisioned a 210 key award-winning Destination resort with 22,000 sf state of the art conference facilities. Inspiration for Peter Mason* and the other members of the team came from the rich history of the property; Estancia Hotel & Spa, La Jolla pays homage to the rancho-style architecture and landscape first introduced to Southern California in the 1800’s by Spanish Colonizers. The original adobe stables built in the 1940’s were renovated and became the lobby and bar; the 2 and 3 story guestroom buildings surround courtyard gardens landscaped with native plants. The project included a 10,000 sf spa and a 156 car underground garage.
When the hotel opened it was immediately listed on the Conde Nast Traveler “Hot List”. It is a winner of the AAA prestigious Four- Diamond Award.
